60's inspired makeup ~ think Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick

So it will be new year in a few hours, but let just save that for the next blog post.

suddenly last night I got the urge to do a makeup how to blog post. I don't know how and why but I suddenly look into the 60's look. When you talk about the 60's look, the major icon we look up to is Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick. In 60's, focus are the eyes, so we see a black line drawn into the crease, thick brows and thick mascara especially on the bottom.

"update: Ok I messed this makeup a bit, so I did an updated blogpost on this makeup , check it"

note: these pics *of Twiggy and Edie I downloaded from the internet for a while so I can't remember which site exactly it is taken from to credit them, if anyone want to credit, you can contact me nur_farhana26@yahoo.com

Brick Red stained lips - Favourite look for now

For the Brick Red Stained Lips I'm loving right now, I achieve it using with the mixture of the Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Sienna #055 and the Revlon Matte in Really Red #006. I have tried this combination before actually but I did not wear it often,
however lately I started to love it and wear this look more often.

the whole look - it looks more casual in real life
stain of classic neutral red is a must!

Review: Chanel Mat Lumiere - Unexpected experience and uncertain future~~

MAT LUMIÈRE - LONG LASTING LUMINOUS MATTE FLUID MAKEUP SPF 15
(image taken from Chanel website)
CHANEL Mat Lumiere
Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup
SPF 15 30ml
Ok, I am usually not attracted to high end foundation and if I thought about buying an expensive high-end Foundation (GBP 20.00 and over) I would think of MAC first.
As people might know I am an avid follower of the PIXIWOO sisters on youtube and they really the Chanel Foundations and their tutorials always feature Pro Lumiere or the VitaLumiere. But I wasn't attracted because I believe Chanel never really thought of people with darker and deeper skintone (MAC NC35 and above), so I don't think they got my shade. But then one day I came a cross youtubers giving review about Chanel foundation and they have darker and deeper skintone so then I check out the makeupalley for bulk reviews and actually the Chanel foundation do have darker shade especially the Lumiere line. But then when I check again the darker shade is available in US. In UK, it is different. The darkest shade is 60 or Hale'.

When I come to the Chanel counter the sales assistant of course recommend me the darkest shade which is this one. But to my finding I think it is quite light on me, but actually after a while it kind of blend into my skintone which is great. And to be honest I actually prefer my foundation to be a bit lighter than my real skintone,
*maybe because it is an asian thing, I want to look fairer*
In the end I only took a small bottle sample which the counter generously offer.

Shade in 60 I would say like MAC NC30-35 but I'm not sure because of it's undertone, it appear like warm undertone and blend into my warm skintone, so it is warm I guess.

Big Bang and 2NE1 dominate MTV *bangga YG*

Big Bang 2NE1 for the world!!!

I guess world domination is no more impossible for this twos from YG.

Ohhhhh... I can imagine how YG being proud like a father with his unique style of talking...

anyway since when I can't remember,
but since Big Bang nominated for MTV Europe Music Award for Worldwide Acts,
and 2NE1 nominated for MTV Iggy best new band,

VIPs and BlackJacks around the world was like on a mission,
and their routine were wakeup vote, work vote, play vote, rest vote, eat vote, sleep vote, dream vote and wakeup vote all over again.
And I almost did the same, I made a twitter account with sole purpose to keep updated about these twos,
*well I twit other stuff as well now*

and even my blog, I spend some time blog about them unusually...
*my 2nd post.... in a row.. an achievement*
Taken from Youtube

Following my post from 'meeting' Big Bang in Belfast,
and they won EMA for Worlwide, they beat mainstream big names Britney's Spears and Justin Bieber in Celerity tracking thing I forgot *but main point, they beat Bieber*

later MTV Iggy announce 2NE1 as the best new band in the world!!!

Taken from Twitter

Sorry for Yuna, I didn't vote you, but I know you're great too...*erk*
oh, and I heard 2NE1 and Yuna were on the same stage the day they announce in New York! Style!

So anyway, winning Iggy is great, tons of article commenting on K-pop crossing world's mainstream come out,
I like the one where they say 2NE1 is kind of like Nirvana breaking through the mainstream with alternrock.
*that's cool*

How did they win??
I always approved of K-idols have a tremendously huge FANDOM which one K-pop artist who could have a FANDOM as great as Bieber... of course by numbers this fact might not be true,
but I may say so, since even though K-pop has smaller market compare to American artist,
they manage to have fans around the world... other than that, all fans hooked up with Kpop, Big Bang and 2NE1 can go crazy as to look for them at the airport,
but only a 'few' fans that go crazy to look for American artist... why???

at the Belfast City Airport, I would say 98% of the fans there are VIPs... so do the math...

I'm not saying that artist like Selena Gomez or Bieber does not has a fandom,
it is just not as great as VIPs and Blackjacks... or the hottest, Sone or Cassie or ELF *ELF is big*
Even in Malaysia, people queue up to meet Beast who's only an artist for 1-2 years, but no one waited for 30 second to Mars... this is a reality....

It's just have to with culture I guess,
so other than we expose to korean entertainment n idols,
we are also exposed to their 'fandom' culture....

so there's no question how they won MTV,
it might just by voting,
but there REASONs why they are voted!

They are just GREAT entertainers and ARTIST!!
music, style, fashion, talent, they got it!

So Big Bang and 2NE1 jjang!!!

Winning these is a starting point,
indication that it's possible!!!

Tuesday 8 November 2011

BIG BANG was in Belfast!

this might be the first time I really felt like a die-hard VIP!!
Who ever thought that Big Bang will come to Belfast, all FIVE of them!!
GD, TOP, Tae, Dae and Seungri!!
So it was like this, I was wondering... on my own...
whether will they come or not...

then suddenly on last Thursday,
my friends from Dublin (they are VIPs) whatsapps me saying that they will come to Belfast to catch Big Bang,
I was like " REALLYY!!!!!"

so to be honest, if my friends didn't say anything about Big Bang I wouldn't even think of seeing Big Bang in real life. So the next day, they update saying that Big Bang will arrive at 12.20pm,
and my friends could not make it.... I was blurrrrr...
then a text came from a friend, fellow VIP as well asking if I'm going to the airport...
and I just GO! so thanks to my friends I manage to push my inner VIP self. haha!

so to the airport we go, and I saw a fellow Malaysian VIP and I get to know the local VIP....
and as I expected, there are only VIPs!! theres no fans of Selena Gomez, but there are a few random people who's looking for any celebrities.
12.30pm - 1.00pm ... theres no sign of them...
then we wait for the next flight at 2.30pm... there are still no sign..
although I did catch a glimpse of Selena Gomez...
I wasn't excited anymore... not to forget due to some old sick lady that give us VIPs false alarm...
but the local VIPs are still hoping they arrive today, and the Belfast City Airport, on of the staff told us, they are not coming today, but I guess we weren't convinced...
then the MTV EMA staff said to us to come tomorrow because they ABSOLUTELY not going to arrive today... sadly we took off from the airport 6.00pm
*and I was thinking if they arrive later that day, curse you EMA and City Airport, haha!*

What I discover that day that common interest does make people stick to each other, that evening my friend and I even get a lift from the VIPs... thanks you guys...
haaaa... I still remember looking at her Twit account n her phone VIPs all are giving condolence to VIPs in Belfast that we weren't able to meet them.. and where the hell is Big Bang??!! that remains a mystery.

So another surprise comeup later that evening, people writing on my wall, like how the hell they know I was at the Airport, and I realize that I was on TV news, UTV.... *speechless*!!!
it was awkward!! they put the video link on my wall, tagging me ...
and people keep saying I saw you on TV... to my disbelief, my friend who was on that as well does not receive as much blow out as I did, maybe because I'm bigger *size wise* and I was more obvious.
And since the news feature VIPs in Belfast, the video practically spread to all Big Bang VIPs blogs and websites, even to allkpop!!!

Enough about that, I was already disappointed, didn't meet BB that day, and I was overwhelm about the video thing... I was really hoping I get to meet them tomorrow.
So I didn't manage to get sleep actually, I even made Twitter account so that I am able to keep updated... and I was quite late... but it make sense since the flight arrive at 8.20 am, we just couldn't find the taxi. We ran to the arrival door, and MORE VIPssss!!!!!
There was more Koreans as well *I mean staffs that came with BB*, but not BB yet.
then, peek closer into the arrival, I saw a tall guy, with brown hair, blue printed jacket... it was TOP!!!!! ok, it's real!! kept saying that to myself... waiting and anticipating...
and they Come out... my blackberry was on Video recording on standby mode...

It was amazing!!
First it was Seungri, but too bad he face down, so I can't really look at his face.
Then, it was Taeyang... he was the most obvious one, even though he's actually more petite, but due to his cool hair and lighter clothing, he was obvious and the best recorded in the video.
Taeyang face was the most excited one, and the fact that many are chanting his name, 'Taeyang!" would really fed his confident! Yea Taeyang!
Then talk about small frame, GD is small as well, and I almost lost him,
looking and walking cool as the cool leader, his face does not express much... and I almost did not notice Daedae was next to him... He is the one who looks most tired, ... *seulpohajimalgo, :(*
then it TOP!!!! no I meant to say Vic from Iris, because that how Top's face looks like,
all smirking and looking good, not to forget his jacket... is to die for!!!
I was actually really starstruck and paused in a moment, that's why I was only close to TOP.
and I felt really close, if I just reach out my hand to touch his shoulder or his hair ,
ahhhhhhhhhhh *fan girl mode*
my friend was close *the one who's in yellow scarf* and her video is consist of Top's profile,
to die for, his dimple is real!!!
things go more crazy as Top waves back at us when many wish him Happy Birthday!!
Then we only can look at them entering the car, Tae wave again, more shouting!!!!

We VIPs seriously would like to thank you the Belfast City Airport staff, for letting Big Bang come out the door where we can meet and greet them!!! love you Belfast!!!

It was really crazy! then after that more SBS, KBS and some say Big Bang TV cameras was there, and they record us VIPs, I manage to shout out make a concert in Europe!!
It was really nice and worth the Saturday morning which I usually slept in, I rest my case,
Since then, I was really in 'angau' state, macam gila sikit,
even when people say 'TOP'less, I remember him and them.
Than the next night, it was MTV EMA and guess what???
They WON!!!! I was practically shouting just return from raya at a friend's house,

What I like most about them winning, is them being humble,
GD: "we are called Big Bang, from South Korea....
as usual, best GD!

Ps: If you guys notice, I just made a twitter account, and I decided to continue use it, and it might involves beauty and vanities stuff other than BIG BANG!!!
ahhhhh *fan girl mode*

Saturday 22 October 2011

It's been a month, tired... *just noticed, my 100th post*

It's been a month since I updated my blog,
due to shocking heartbreaking exam result I receive when I was back in Malaysia,
I put a halt on my blogging activities.
The reason is for me to keep myself calm and not too think too much.

a lot been going on, I stayed in Malaysia for only about 2 weeks and I was back in Belfast by 11th September. I failed one of the module from my exam, to be precise my resit, and I was to face the School Student Progress Committee just to discuss as in why I fail and the consequences for that.

So the next day I was suppose to meet my lecturer to go through my paper. I failed the module that combine Treatment and Disease and although I got 62 points which is actually above passing mark of 50, however the mark is not balance between Treatment and Disease.
I did well in Treatment but bad in Disease. So I was suppose to see the Disease lecturer but too bad she is not working with Queen's anymore and I only get to see the Treatment lecturer, which to be honest does not help much since he just say that I improve in Treatment. What is more heartbreaking is when I get to know that I need only another mark to pass the Disease element... '-.- however by then I was already 'redha' that I have to repeat the year.

So during the meeting, I was calm and passive and I was in acceptance.
The fact the school provide a support letter does make me feel better, but the fact that I 'lost' a year... it is hard. It is harder when I always bump in course mate who pass the first year and knowing that I'm not in the same class anymore.... it is sad I can't deny it. Then I just join the first year class, *sigh* again, well at least I only need to repeat one module *so less exam*.
Telling my close friend even friends back in Malaysia put me at ease as well with their support and even the freshers' who are technically my classmates now, they are cool too.. I guess
*ego senior*

However I was moving on until MARA London Director come down to Belfast, actually Belfast is 'fofular' lately even the High Commissioner come here from London... meeting 'big' people... is awkward... *smile* , but I enjoyed it. The Director talk to me about this matter. I was supposed to contact her as soon as possible, she said MARA could have helped me plead to the school. I regret that I keep it to myself.
The solution is unknown... who knows what would happen to me especially in the final year. I might not get funds to continue my study, and following new policy I might can't continue here at all. However, I'm just praying hoping MARA will give me a chance. Student loans is a serious shit. I can't say anything anymore except that I should be ready at any time... just in case. Insyallah, I get through this.

It's been a wild month since I updated the blog, the freshers' are here and there are more of them and I enjoy getting to know them. Being involved with the Sambutan Pelajar Baru under QMC was a great experience and does put my mind off thinking about the same sad thing over and over again.
Other than that I find challenges when I lost my 'junior' tittle and really get to know some of people here are fake... 'bermuka-muka', 'tikam belakang'... how wrong am I to believe that these people get along with the other people in Belfast. Now I know why there are some 'random' 'weird' fellow Malaysian (I might say Malay/Muslim as well) exist in Belfast, and may I say they belong to this one pact, 'pakatan'...
*I want to say organisation, but I believe it's unfair to the Organisation itself*
.... awkward...
*trying not to hate in order to prevent myself from being bitchy*

other than that, I did get sick and tired of some people ignoring their responsibilities and people who knows me, know what happen when I get serious...'-.-
dahlah aku tengah berkabung sebab kena repeat year, boleh pula selamba badak ambil kesempatan.
Ignorance!
But it's ok now, I feel much stronger, I realize to never give a shit about people who step all over you and finally never deceived by people's appearance... *haihhhh nak je mencaci orang-orang tu kat sini... tapi tak pelah... not my blogging style pun.
Since I join the QMC committee I feel... I don't feel anything actually except furious and stress.. haha!! but it is understandable, we were in a slump from summer... but since last night I believe everything will be ok and it will get better.

So that is all for now, will keep updating again... and continue my travel post from summer... *I know it is almost winter, but maybe reminiscing about my summer trip make the winter this year feel warmer, *

Monday 5 September 2011

home.... cheering myself...

warning: this post might be depressing

I returned to Malaysia two days before raya, and it hasn't been a week since I am in Ampang...

It is more saddening when I realized I might have to go back to Belfast earlier than expected...
now, first of all I am to stay in Malaysia less than a month but now it seems it will be shorter...

As some of people out there may know, I had to resit a few (three) examinations from my first year, I just got my result a few days ago... and it is DISAPPOINTING...

I failed... again...
what is more depressing I scored higher than the module passing marks, but I failed one of the element, there's no compensation for this module so even though I did well on the other element, failing one element lead to fail of the whole module...
what is more saddening is that there is SIGNIFICANT improvement in marks for these modules that I resit, including the one I failed...
I would say I feel less wronged if I score about 50...

nevertheless, nowadays I just go crazy cracking my head thinking of how to face the School Student Progress Committee.... this is the reason of why I have to go back earlier.
I am also stressed thinking the fact that I suddenly have to think *and spend* about flight tickets...

I might always talk about positive thinking, but actually I'm quite pessimistic...
*that's why I always talk about positive thinking... to cheer myself*
so I'm feeling depressed now... I can't even really enjoy the break I have now...

So posting this on my blog is just to remind myself... nothing has been decided yet...
so 'be strong'...

My usual self would post about all the worst case scenarios that could happen due to this event... but I will restrain my self to remain positive
*although I can't deny all these thought are on my head everyday*

whatever it is, it's not the end of the world.

Spring Summer Trip and Conquest of Europe, Kelana Convoy 2: Bath and Cambridge

So this is the 2nd post about my trip last spring/summer.
After two days of running around London, that evening we head to Bath for Stonehenge tour.
What I remember most about this two places (Bath and Cambridge) is the hospitality we received while we were there.

Did you know that Bath has one of the most expensive properties, and I totally understand why. Their neighbourhood is really nice, giving a 'old age' feeling... and romantic.
So in Bath we stayed at a friend's house, oh I don't who she is, and while we were there, she wasn't there. But her housemates were, and they are Bruneians.
How very nice of them to still let us stay at their home. We arrive late night and straight heading to bed, have to get ready for tomorrow tour to the Stonehenge.
Although, I couldn't deny I was distracted by some matter... however, thank God it does not ruin my mood the next day.
Bath Abbey
*Forgot the pictures of the Roman Bath

It was really nice walking around Bath and everything is 'classic' looking and there's no contemporary architecture. We took a look *just look* at the Bath Abbey, the Roman Bath and took a whole lot of pictures at the Royal Crescent.... Too bad, I don't use my camera and the people with the pictures haven't email me mine yet... until now... '-.-
*it's not like I would upload their pics... at least give me my pics... huh!

The Royal Crescent has a very nice background, totally worth picture taking.
There are other places that you should visit at Bath, but I didn't get a chance
- The Roman Bath - I didn't enter it, it was suppose your must see if in Bath
- Jane Austin Centre - especially if you're a fan of Pride and Prejudice
Well, at least we went to Stonehenge
The tour we join is called Scarper Tours, 14.00 pounds for student.
The tour bus picked us near the Bath Tourist Information Centre.
The journey to Stonehenge took about *I can't remember,
but I swear it was more than an hour.

Throughout the journey, we went up and down hill, with the tour guide explaining to us how expensive are these houses on hills, how Johnny Depp used to live there.
Then there's talk about crop circle and that most of the lands belong to the Ministry of Defence.
So there's many army barracks and if you're lucky, you get to see tanks around in the field.
*we were lucky to spot a few*

Then, we arrived at the Stonehedge... it was MAGNIFICENT seeing it closer... as nice as we see it on the postcards and in internet.
There is of course many legends surround the Stonehenge, about Merlin and Giants... there is even about alien stuff *crop circle?

The main point is, it looks magnificent!
not pretty but magnificent.
*running out of adjectives here*

If you're notice the cloud, yes, it was raining... heavily!
I believe I took a pretty good shot of this... hehe :p

Let just skip the night and straight on to how we were in Cambridge.
We visit the Campus... we can't enter some of the public places due to exams...

To me, there wasn't really anything interesting in Cambridge
except a bunch of HOT *I'm serious when I say HOT* guys promoting punting. I guess it is popular there...
one of the punting promoter HOT guy been to Indonesia and he suddenly talks Malay/Indonesia to us... but thank God for my bad Malay slang and accent due to my Kuala Lumpur/Ampang upbringing, that guys didn't notice that we talk about him behind his back... Talk about KL, I remember how he said he hate KL because he can't really understand what we were saying, eventhough he understand Malay, he's annoyed...
*hmmm... am I suppose to be offended? haha!*
but to be positive, he said he love Zouk, because the drinks cost less,
ok,

To make most of my time, K Peepot and I joined this Ghost Tour just for the fun of it, walking around in the 'dark' listening to ghost stories...
how silly of us to forget, that during that time, the sun set at about twenty to nine.... and the tour was at 7, I think... hahaha!
How awkward was it, trying to feel fear, listening to ghost story in the broad DAYLIGHT... funny... but you know how tour guide have the knack to make everything seem fun.

Again it was raining...
worst... we don't have a place to stay for the night... and there are no close by Bed and Breakfast... and we thought about crashing the bus station, but the bus station is just an outdoor stand... there's no indoor... haaaaaa....

Then, we went to the Mosque... we changed into dry clothes... and later we were informed that there is a talk that night... *Something like Kuliah Wahyu here* Prior to that, we get to know there is a nearby Chicken Cottage... I was HAPPY...
*of course I braze into the rain and still got the chicken, nyum nyum!*
We get to meet the muslim community there, we told them our situation that we are on a 3 weeks trip and that tomorrow we joining a European tour,
and tonight we can't find a place to stay
I remember this one sister said "You are CRAZY!!!"
unconsciously, I reply, "I know we are"...

then one of the sister talk to her husband to talk to the Mosque Administration about our situation. We were lighten up by hope of staying in the mosque for the night.
Then it is known to us that actually the mosque is combine with a school... and that they let us stay in the classroom... *Only Allah knows how grateful we were that time*
Not only that, they offer us heating and hot shower, and even offer food... All praises to Allah that lead us to meet these people.

We parted that night, and get ready to sleep... the next morning we catch the bus back to London to join Kelana Convoy's Conquest Of Europe...

Ps: Like I said, I was pissed and annoyed that I didn't really get to see much in Bath and Cambridge, but the fact we get these hospitality from strangers, it is really a nice memory.

Simple Regeneration Age Resisting ~ Antioxidant

I'm not sure since when, but somewhere around two years ago *I was in KMB, I suddenly realize the need of antioxidant skincare. Prior to that, I am very strict about sun protection (it has to be at least SPF 30+ and most important PA+++) and this was due to UVA danger and increase chances of getting premature aging on skin or worse cancer *but I most worried about the former.

So this is not just the fear of becoming dark and tanned, I'm already dark anyway by genes.
At that time I was using Simple Light Moisturizer which I choose because I just want a simple light moisturizer to balance my skin with benzoyl peroxide (Acne topical treatment), and I was not interested of added benefits such as brightening or shine-control. However, as usual, I was too absorb looking into skincare articles, I felt as if it was a calling, to get moisturizer with antioxidants.

So antioxidant is very recommended to combat premature ageing. Antioxidant inhibit oxidation, the process that naturally occur within our body while ageing but oxidation can speed up (pre-mature ageing). Of course we still get antioxidant from our diets *fruits and veggies however experts claims that less that 10% of the antioxidant we eat reach the surface of our skin and that topical antioxidant is more potent on skin surface.

One of the popular good antioxidant ingredients in skincare would be GREEN TEA. So if you see green tea in your skin care, that's good. Other normal ingredient that provide antioxidant as well are Vitamin C and E, Co-enzyme Q-10 (popular in antiageing product). However as science advances, so is ingredient with potent antioxidant, such as White Tea or they would come up with antioxidant complex such as one in Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Cream or the Even Better Dark Spot Corrector *I can't remember the name, it was long time ago.

ok, I am very sorry about the long post on antioxidant, so I should get to the review.

Sadly, at that time I can't afford Clinique stuff or other high end product.
Fortunately, Simple come up with this range Regeneration Age Resisting that targets pre-mature ageing. And guess their active ingredient? GREEN TEA.
From Simple :
SKIN LOVING NUTRIENTS
GREEN TEA EXTRACT fights premature ageing
MUSHROOM EXTRACT & GINKO BILOBA refines and regenerates
SHEA BUTTER & BORAGE SEED nurtures and replenishes
OAT-BETA GLUCAN & CHAMOMILE reduces sensitivity and soothes
VITAL VITAMINS
PRO VITAMIN B5 and VITAMIN E to soften, smooth, and improve skin condition

Other than having the GREEN TEA extract, I also like that it has refines and regenerates properties, which are very important for me, especially when I always get acne. Although I was worried about the shea butter since it can aggravate acne-prone skin. At first I bought the Night Cream, which was about RM 30-40 *I can't remember exact price. So this is definitely a steal compare to high end product that would cost RM 100-200 or more.

During use: It is so much better than using the Light Hydrating Moisturizer, which does nothing other than moisturize. The Age Resisting done a better job at moisturizing actually. I wore at night with my benzoyl peroxide routinebefore sleep and wake up with fresh face the next morning, no flakiness. Little product goes a long way, doesn't need to load my skin. Plus, my skin react well to it, no flare up or sudden outbreak *shea butter in it did not bother my skin. The texture is not lotion-like but more of butter-balm like but my skin still felt comfortable. It has no strange smell and the packaging pump is good.

Satisfy with the Night Cream, after I finish my Light Hydrating Moisturizer, I went to get the Age Resisting Day Cream, which was good as well. Active ingredient are the same although they put some SPF in it. I guess good for those who don't wear sunblock. This one, the texture is more cream-like, and it does give a bit of 'white cast' due to the sun protection properties. Again, I was happy, it does not aggravate my skin. Alright, I can't actually see the process of antioxidant in both cream on skin, but it was better. Even the feel is much more comfortable and it doesn't give funny reaction when I wore it with my benzoyl peroxide.

verdict: 4/5

There's definitely no significant changes in my skin , but there was subtle improvement *more smoother.
I would very much recommend to individuals that want to step up their regular moisturizer but does not wish to spend too much . Note that this product does not combat lines and wrinkles. Simple products as usual has no fragrance, no smell, no 'unnecessary and affordable. Well, this one is quite expensive for a drugstore brand but it is still affordable.

PS: As you all know, I had converted to Origins skincare a few months ago. I just want to have a try on high end product and there was nothing wrong with Simple Age Resisting. l definitely post a review Origins in the future as well.

Spring Summer Trip and Conquest of Europe, Kelana Convoy: London

OK, I've be missing in action all this while and it's not because of fasting, it is because I want to focus on my studies. I had some fails from last exam and I have to resit it. As much as I want to blog about stuff, I was pretty nervous about m resits... so it's the same like when I kept blogging away during exam season last May. However I just finish this morning and practically faint at the sight of bed. I just realize it's past the last 10 days of Ramadhan yesterday when I go for taddarus. I have to try my best in these last days. Finally I will be going back to Malaysia, Ampang this Saturday. Am I excited? to be honest, not really... sorry mama.

Alright I though I would just pass blogging about the trip I had about 2 months ago, but I can't. There's a lot of happening and the fact that I practically become poor when I'm back from the trip, I just could not give this trip a miss. This is my 3 weeks spring summer trip.

So Conquest of Europe is a budget package from Kelana Convoy. It covers a lot of place. I joined this tour, to be honest on impulse. So I was quite unprepared financially. That's not good.
Of course I just brave myself throughout the tour, I guess it's better to spend more and experience things than just burning the few hundreds I had spend on.

We went to London a few days before the tour start. I thought about checking out London, since I never had a chance to step of Heathrow before. Being on the bus on the way to Victoria, I just realize how much I miss the sight of city *note that I am from Ampang and Kuala Lumpur is like 5 minits from home. I had notice that Belfast is not actually a city *metropolitan and I am not
bothered, it is just, it is so apparent when I visit bigger city like London. The same thing happen when I visit Dublin last time. Just looking out of the window of bus, I was thinking, 'maybe, I do miss home?' ... haha! The fact it was blazing hot summer makes it feel more like KL, despite the Big Ben.
We check in to the Malaysian Hall at Bayswater, well, I am not sure if there are other cheaper accomodation. But Malaysian Hall cost about 10gbp per night for undergraduate. The room is nice I guess, I never stayed in a budget hotel or hostel in UK so I can't really compare. I did notice some roaches in the toilet *it's been a while since I see one.

Another thing I was introduced to is the London Underground. COOL! You know, for a daughter of one of KTMB engineer, I do appreciate an efficient train system and Underground is one of it.
By underground only we can get to almost all places, Arsenal, Heathrow and Greenwich and many others. Did I mention that all the interesting site *tourist site have a station, so it is very convenient and cheaper for tourist. Of course it could not defeat the atmosphere if we're a bus.
At first, in Victoria Station actually, with the crowd and complicated map, I was nervous, and I wasn't really paying attention to what station we were at. But 1 single day all it takes to get the hang of the the underground system *actually less than that... I mean for me who wasn't that enthusiastic about the underground. It just show how much we went on and off the train. I would like to provide what station for what interesting site, but it's been a while and I am tooo lazy just to search it, I did save the map and brochure of places we went to... but I think I throw it when I moved.

After checking in to Malaysia Hall it's straight to sight seeing.
(now I can't really remember what we went to first so I just put pics randomly)
Big Ben and House of Parliment or Westminster Palace.
Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park
Mind me for not having a camera and the fact that I forgot to bring my charger make picture taking very minimal.
We also went to check out Imperial College Campus, Science Museum, Trafalgar Square and National Gallery, Harrods, Madame Tussauds, Ripley's Museum, Shaftesbury Avenue and Oxford Street.
Science History - Listening Post (Art project)

We pretty much visiting as in 'touch and go'. We barely go in to these places. *we enter the Science Museum and Ripley's. So this fact kind of annoy me... but I just calm myself thinking there's always a next time. Oh not to forget the Buckingham Palace. Even in the scorching sun rays, I did enjoyed walking around even if in the hot. As you all know my skin is relatively dark and tanned and I an avid sunblock wearer so standing in the sun wouldn't ruin my day.

Trafalgar Square and National Gallery

Ok, so it does take a while before my post reach Kelana Convoy Tour... but this is a start. hehe.

Back in Belfast

Ok, I just got back two nights ago... a lot of things to think about, not to forget a lot of surprises...

and I am officially moved in to my new house...
and by now I realize a lot of stuff in my house *that I am not that please about...

I don't have study table and study lamp as well *it's quite important since the light in this is quite damp and yellow.... my dryer quite suck... I'm not sure how to arrange the furniture in my kitchen to make it look nice... *tired from moving couch... I haven't unpack yet, I got library books that need to be return....haaaaa...

whatever it is, I am pleased being back in Belfast, with familiar surrounding and weather...
Oh, it was unexpectedly very sunny the last three days, however, it was raining yesterday morning..

PS: Still got something going on my facial skin... but the drying especially on the forehead was not so bad, it suddenly got better when I got to Italy during my trip... which was unexpected... *am I born for weather in Italy, but it is confirmed that the havoc on facial skin is not due to sunburn.... however I did burn and tan a bit, but not so bad... since I am dark in the first place, thanks to my serious sunblock slapping...
However I did forgo sunblock on my hands and feets... *just for fun I guest, I want to see how far it will burn and tan... IT WAS QUITE BAD...
I remember wearing strappy sandals and now I got some light stripe in my foot... which are very funny to look at... haha!

Can't wait to blog about my trip and the tour I join, Kelana Convoy,

Moving Out ... halfway,

Finally, I moved out from Queen's Elms,
I couldn't believe it but it was my last night two days ago...
I will be missing you Elms, having a nice big kitchen, a big clean fridge, my private toilet and my large room.... ~~
Not to forget my dearest hallmates, Charlotte, Amy, Viviene, Iulia, Jade, Lyndsay and Jenny.
I did have a good time living with you guys and thank you for everything and being understanding and all.
I hope even if we bump into each other at Queen's, don't ignore each other *although we never did before except the medics
However staying at Queen's Elms would always be in my memory.

So I just moved out halfway, meaning I haven't moved into my new house at Ulsterville Avenue.
I am going for a trip tomorrow and be back at early July.
I am actually quite worried if I have not enough money or I get too tired... but I really hope for the best.

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation

I started using this foundation about 2 years ago when I change my foundation from L'oral True Match and Rimmel Long Lasting.
I bought the one for the Combination/Oily skin in Toast,
price in Malaysia would be about RM 60.00
in UK about 12.00 gbp .
Price, I would say expensive for a drugstore brand but it is still affordable.

First of all I am disappointed with the packaging; in a bottle without a pump. It would be much easier if there is a pump like L'oreal True Match.

This foundation also has almost like a 'alcohol' smell, which quite strong, but it is not bothering me. However, some people might not like it.

I have a lot of blemishes so I usually use this foundation for full coverage. This foundation totally give the coverage I needed. Just a little bit of product can cover my whole face. Using too much of this can lead to caking, so have to be careful about that.
The shade also match me well. There are actually a lot of shades for this foundation so that's very good.

The consistency, it is quite thick and not too runny. To wear it, you have to blend it straight away.

For me, it was much much better than the L'oreal true match I use before. However, I would say both of the foundation is in the same level.
As far as I know this foundation never give breakout, and it does not irritate my skin. This foundation also provide for Dry-Combination skin, but I never try that before.

It stays long enough although I never take note how many hours was that. For a drugstore foundation I guess it is really good and definitely a 'steal'.
However, now I am trying out high-end brand foundation, but this foundation is still GOOD!

Verdict: 4/5
I have bought Clinique Superbalanced Liquid Foundation and it was suppose to be a medium coverage. When I compare the consistency, I realize that Clinique Superbalanced is more thick and provide more coverage. That's when I realize that Revlon Colorstay is actually a medium coverage foundation but the coverage is buildable.

Right now, I am really enjoying my Clinique Superbalanced, but I still love Revlon Colorstay. If you don't want to spend much on foundation I guess Revlon Colorstay can be a very good option.
I probably going to use Revlon Colorstay for my 'looks' blog post. *so I wouldn't 'really' waste my more expensive Clinique foundation.

ps: Too bad my skin is still really dry so putting on the Revlon Colorstay would'nt be a very good idea. I hope that my skin will get better soon so I can start making blog post about looks and makeup. Nowadays I really find Cllinique Superbalanced very helpful for my dry skin if I'm going out, but I still wear very very little of it.

K-drama : IRIS .... *sayang...~~

to be honest, I watch this drama for one reason only and it is TOP from Big Bang.
TOP as Vick

as an audience, I have that right eventhough I might seem shallow.
So this is action, spy mission-impossible style drama, *not my style, but since it's TOP I watch it.
When the drama come out, I just search for TOP's scene, which is not many.

Then, after a while, I push myself to watch this,
and after a long while I push myself to review this.
It is about two best friend Hyun Joon and Sa Woo brought into a top secret organization, more confidential than the national security, NSS. So they working as agent and there's action, terrorist attack and there is IRIS.

Actually, to be honest,
this drama seriously got a good idea, the concept of IRIS, a very very influential organization really excites me... however, the fact that they focus tooooooo muuucccchhhh on the love story kind of put me off.
Lead cast: Lee Byung Hun as Kim Hyun Joon, Kim Tae Hee as Choi Seung Hee
Note: Okay, I know they won Best Couple...

I believe probably J-drama could have done a better version,
*it is just that I believe J-drama has the ability to take 'love' out of the equation and still resulting good drama, eg. Bloody Monday

Hyun Joon's best friend, Jin Sa Woo played by Jung Joon Ho, betrays Hyun Joon.

In this drama, there's a lot of betrayal and backstabbing. In this matter I believe this drama did great, it was really unexpected and a lot of 'acceptable' twist.

Other characters (From above left to right): Oh Hyun Kyu (like a forensic specialist), Hwang Tae Sung, Yang Mi Jung (best Korean Hacker, Vick's supposedly love interest), The President, Park Sang Hyun, Yang Ju In, The Doctor.

I don't have any problem with most of the characters, but some are simply annoying. One of them is Yang Ju In. Just because she is best friend with Seung Hee she ONLY think about helping Seung hee and not doing her job at NSS. Leaking information??? and not feeling guilty abou it??? Comeonelah!!!
And Seung Hee, obviously the most emotional uncontrol agent I ever seen in a drama.
She was really absorbe
d in her relationship with Hyun Joon, her colleague, not that just against the company's policy and she lets it affect her job. *unprofessional

In this drama there many character which had me curious like 'which side does this character stand for?' and there is always a twist. Some predictable ones are put out at the right time so I have nothing to complain about. These character don't get much exposure in this drama, however surprisingly they end up being one of the important character *even more that The President.

Obviously if Sa Woo did not do any betrayal and just stay as a sidekick, his character would be very lame. Although I am pissed that how Seung Hee was the one who trigger his betrayal. In
the end, it's all because of a girl.
However in the scene above, I think Sa Woo just got VERY cool. He really have the 'mafia' thing going on. *one of my favourite scene. I am pleased.

Talk about mafia, the most 'mafia' of all, Baek San played by Kim Young Chul.
As a villain I really like how he can be very cold hearted and able two lead a double life *having a wife and go shopping grocery but also shoot people dead. But again disappointed since I realize that his weak spot is none other Seung Hee. Comeonlah wei! I believe he could have be extra cold hearted if he get rid of Seung Hee*more realistic as a villain.

Alright, even though TOP does not appear much, but his scene seriously leave a great effect *partly probably because I am a fan of TOP
but he is seriously COOL!

Memang jahat sampai ke tulanglah!! Budak pun dia bunuh!

One of TOP's popular scene, shooting, car chasing and SMIRKING!! *LOVE IT!!

If the small kid have survived through this, I would be put off. But of course, Vick the assasin can deliver it. At first, you will have no idea who is TOP working for, all we know, he talk to Mr. Black.

Another interesting thing about Vick is how he got close the 'Best Korean Hacker' by seducing her. I always thought of this kind of character is usually a women, but TOP make the different.

Vick making his move on the girl.

Result: SANGKUT!!! *AHHHHH!!! hot,
Again there's a 'twist' on how this end. Of course I expect him to kill her *although I hope not,
but how he does it? bang! TOTAL HOMME FATALE!!

Other than Vick, I also got other favourite as well, the North Korean Agent, Kim Sun Hwa played by Kim So Yeon and Park Chul Young played by Kim Seung Woo.

I don't know why people always left out Sun Hwa's character. To me, she is way way better than Seung Hee. I mean she also fall for Hyun Joon, but how come she looks much COOLER. Her style is simple but also still attractive. I really like the scene when she escape from the ambulance *violent but appealing...
Seung Hee also has one fighting scene, which was okay, but it was way toooo longgg, her shouting put me off, she got beaten up really bad, but she still manage to break her opponents leg and end with just bruises??? what??? at least she should had broken arms fighting for that long. *lame!!
And I think she looks ridiculous with a sniper... not suitable for this job.

Park Young Chul is great as well... just the fact that he is very loyal and patriotic. He also stay cool even he got betrayed by his comrade. GOOD MAN!
Talk about North Korean, I also enjoy the terrorist scene when they want to blow up Seoul.
I believe the the D-day is very well-planned, although unable to be executed since that will end this story. I really this women, played by Lee Eon Jeong. Although it seems her part is very small but well delivered. *She was also in drama My Girl if you guys notice.

And if you notice, she looks way cooler with a gun compare to Seung Hee.

Overall, it is a good drama,
I would have given a 5/5 if it was not because I was put off too much by some of the characters and scene.

Note: I don't hate Kim Tae Hee... I actually adore her in Stairway To Heaven, it is just that she's not my favourite in this drama
*probably my most hateful ... hehe.

You should watch it if you enjoy this genre, and if you want to see TOP's acting.
Definitely not a waste.

Smokey brown... my sister again! yeah!!

To be honest, I don't remember when I did this, probably sometime after I graduated from KMB. Yeah, the time I really go crazy and all out playing and exploring makeup. I realized that since I start studying Belfast, I haven't done much in makeup look post department, and the biggest reason is because I lost my favourite and only model, my sis *miss you.

I had great time doing makeup for my sister, she has the really really good skin, probably some darkness or discolorization under the eye, but other than that, her skin is GOOD! She's lucky!

As you can see, this is just a simple brown smokey eyes, as usual taken from pixi2woo, from youtube (Ashley Olsen tutorial I believe), but I realize that pixiwoo (youtube as well) has a more updated version of these brown smokey eyes.

1. As usual started off with liquid foundation, I use my sis's *since we are completely of different skintone and shade. Then necessary concealing on the undereye, even the lids, I would suggest and other blemishes. Then set with powder.

2. So for the eyes, to achieve this almost like opaque colour I packed on the upper lid with a eyeshadow brush, I did not brush it on, I pack, dab until the colour is solid. For this I use a quite dense synthetic eyeshadow brush. I use a dark taupe colour, applied from the lashline up to above the crease and I did not wing it out *almost like a round shape.
For the undereye using the same colour, I apply from outer to the inner corner, make it dark and very intense. I also drag the colour down more. The using blending brush I blend the edges so it give the 'smoke' effect, same as the lower lid. Then, using a lighter brown blend it to the edge.
Using a vanilla shimmery shadow, I dab and blend on the outer corner and using the blending brush, lightly dab on the upper lid on the taupe shadow. This will enhance the shimmery effect and also give more texture and dimension. I also highlight the browbone by blending the vanilla shimmery shadow under the outer brow, next to the brow arch. Groom the brow. *I don't use any brow product.

I finish the eyes with black eye pencil on the waterline and black mascara.Since this look is very intense and dark on the eye, I just use a pale nude lipstick for the lips. But sometimes I don't really like how nude lipstick make the lips look sickly pale, especially on tanned and darker skintone. So if the lips is too pale, I would put in a bit of colour, I use a brick-red lipstick, very very sparsely. As you can see, it does show up *it's not suppose too. So I still get very light pale lips but not sickly pale.

Then finish off the cheeks with bronze and nude blush and my favourite stuff highlighter on the cheek bone.

So this smokeys eyes is quite intense and wearing a intense lip can be over the top unless you are going for that look. I usually up for focusing on one feature like lips or eyes... but now I am interested in doing both. But I believe the look cannot be executed with this eyes. If I am carrying this eye look, I would definitely go for pale lips.
I might comeup with the dark smokey eyes and dark intense lips look in the future.

PS: I can't wait to get back to Malaysia for Raya and reunite with my main makeup model. Definitely will do a makeover for her. *excited.

Spring Makeup Haul : MAC makeup *online and counter

Alright, as you can see I did go crazy with MAC this spring.
Note to all, yes, I know this cost very expensive, however I am willing to spend on this because it's my interest, and to purchase all this I have given up on few things and I chose to be luxurious on this
*a simple example would be if you're willing to spend hundreds to buy DSLR, I'm willing to spend on MAC makeup.
Don't try to value DSLR with my passion for MAC or expensive makeup,
it's not going to work.
Another thing, obviously all of this is not bought at once, I buy a few at a time...
sedar-sedar dah banyak ... hehe...
whatever it is, believe me, I will put these to good use.

The items are list randomly.... some I bought earlier, some later. Some are online and some are from MAC counter at Debenhams.

Eyeshadow in Twinks(Veluxe Pearl). 11.50gbp
Deep plum with pearl (a bit of sheen)
Reason to buy: I want to add a dark purple *or plum into my eye shadow collection, it was a coincident since I was at the MAC counter buying something else.
For now: very very please with how the colour turn out on my lids

Lip pencil (from top): Spice-pink cinnamon stick, Whirl-Dirty rose, Mahogany-Intense reddish brown. 10.50gbp
note: I did not bought all at one time
Reason to buy: I bought Spice and Whirl since I am running out of nude lipliner and I thought about having a nude brown/beige and nude rose/pink. Mahogany is to experiment with dark brick/brownish red.
For now: I really love how natural Whirl look on me, Spice suitable if I'm going for light to medium brown-tone lip. I also the intensity of Mahogany when I'm trying the dark brick/brown red lip.

Blot Powder/Pressed in Medium Dark. 17.50gbp
Reason to buy: I can get to shiny when I use the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, so I want to try out their blot powder.
For now: It is a shade too lighter. However it is okay since I just use very little of this product after I set my foundation. I did notice less oily, but too soon for a verdict. Since I got problem with dry flaky skin right now, I haven't use it. *praying for my skin to get better.

Fluidline eye-liner gel in Blitx and Glitz. 13.50gbp
Intense Black with Gold Pearl
Reason to buy: I want to try a gel-liner, it's a coincident that I was at the MAC counter. I chose Blitz and Glitz since it is more interesting and more worth it to me than just purchasing just a black eye-liner gel.
For now: I am not sure about the intensity since I usually wear it over black pencil (cheap Babyblue eyeliner). This is because I have not master to apply gel-liner on its own. I am please with some of gold flecks which is more interesting. My default eye-liner product.

Lipstick in Paramount (Satin). 13.50gbp
Reddish Brown
Reason to buy: Other than want to try intense reddish brown red, I want another MAC Satin Lipstick other than Alibi.
For now: Sometimes can look too intense and too chocolate-y *like a mess I if I binge on chocolate, however it does satisfy my experimentation. Look really great with Mahogany as suggested by the MAC sale assistant. For now trying to find time to wear it, *finding it hard since I am on less makeup period due to my skin condition.

Pro Longwear Lipcreme- Prolong , Unlimited. 15.50gbp
Prolong - True red, Unlimited- Muted Dirty Rose
Reason to buy: Red lip is one of my all-time favourite look, so I thought about trying a longwear red lipstick that could last longer than my Revlon Really Red. Since rose tone lipstick is my go-to lipstick (class, casual and default look), I want something to last long unlike the Revlon Rose Velvet I have.
For now: I thought Prolong can replace my Revlon Matte Really Red but too bad, eventhough it says 'true red' there's too much blue undertone. Unlimited can look too pinky. Nevertheless I can still make both lipstick to work. It absolutely not drying.

Cream Colour Base in Pearl 13.50gbp
Pearl - Pale gold in icy shimmer
Reason to buy: Powder highlighter is my absolutely must-wear product, I thought about using cream to increase my highlighting longevity.
For now: I am happy enough with product, never look like I wear too much shimmer. However, right now my skin is not at the best condition to wear it *or any other makeup

Studio Sculpt Concealer NC30 13.50gbp
Reason to buy: Last time I bought this concealer in NW30 *the sale assistant suggest this, however I am not convinced that NW is for my skin, that I am an NC skintone, NW can be too pinky on me, which does not make any sense since I want to cover redness and acne. So I thought about getting the better-match one.
For now: Big Mistake!!! I should never bought skintone product online when I never saw the product live. MAC problem is that sometime the shade number is not parallel. The concealer in NC30 on me is too light. I wish I had gone to the MAC counter and get a match. Now I don't know what to do with two concealer which does not match me very well, especially when I have the thought of buying one at the counter this time. For now, I just mix both and use it, just have to suck it up and it is not my style to let things left not used... probably I will give to my sister after this, just hope t matches her.

231 Small Shader Brush 14.00gbp
Reason to buy: I want to try out MAC brush and I chose one of the cheapest brush. I thought about getting a pencil brush but it was too expensive *I was not ready to purchase it. I thought about using 231 for my waterline.
For now: I am very please with this brush, certainly does what I intend it to do which applying on the waterline. Other than that, since I have the Fluidline, I use this brush to apply it this and and softly.

So that is my MAC Spring 2011 Haul *nothing to do with the season, just the timeframe.
Certainly there are a few hit and miss over here and there.
I wish my skin improve so I can wear these stuff freely again.

PS: Buying these stuff does make me realize that I might spent too much. So now, I am in the process of saving my money, especially I will be going for holiday
*which my bad again, I did not study how much money I actually need...
to be honest, if I know it is going to cost this much, I wouldn't go for the trip in the first place.
This is how much I prefer Makeup.
But now, it is tooooo laaaatteeee..

sekarang cuma boleh tunggu duit masuk ...
*definitely going to buy a new Studio Sculpt concealer at the MAC COUNTER
